For The Pieces That Are Not Falling Into Place

“We all want good things to happen in our lives, but too often we want it now…not later. When it doesn’t happen that way, we are tempted to ask, “When, God, when?” Most of us need to grow in the area of trusting God instead of focusing on the “when” question. If you’re missing joy and peace, you’re not trusting God. If your mind feels worn out all the time, you’re not trusting God.” Joyce Meyers

We seem to enjoy placing people, achievements, possessions and goals on a pedestal.  We see things in a warped, glorified light.  In our very own competitive, individualistic society that we all live in today, it has become all too natural to have an idealized vision of things.  We end up becoming disappointed, angry, despondent and upset.  We spend so much time holding onto these unrealistic standards that we set in our minds and more often than not, the things that we were once desperate for end up becoming things that were never needed in the first place.

“Was it worth it?” “Did I do something wrong?” “Am I enough?” “Will I ever see my dreams come to life?”. These are the questions that we constantly ask ourselves.  Well friends, the answer is yes. Yes it is worth it, yes you are more than enough and yes God knows the dreams that have been placed on your heart and he has not forgotten about you!

Life – at its essence – can be unpredictable and somewhat cruel.  It is easy to get caught up in these fantasies and false realities.  It is easy to be consumed with the idea of things.

This year has been really different compared to what I originally envisioned.  I had a vision of what 2019 would look like in my eyes.  It is safe to say that 2019 never turned into what I had expected but God has still provided me with everything that I have needed.  This is exactly what learning how to be patient looks like for me.  It is learning how to handle the unknown, the wild and inconsistent rides, the disappointments, the victories and everything that life ‘graciously’ throws at me.

Do not get me wrong.  Most times I really wish that all of the pieces of my life would fall into place right away.  I can be impatient.  I struggle when it comes to waiting for things to materialize but God has seriously softened my heart when it comes to my dreams and expectations.  I can be really proud of how patient I have learnt to become.

Life really is a never-ending game of trying over and learning new things.  Some things will be obvious, other things will take some time and effort.  Part of my journey has been learning how to accept that living this way is okay.

Maybe it is not about waiting for the next piece of your puzzle to fit.  Maybe it is about learning how to stay patient when the seas are rough or when life proves to be really confusing.  Maybe it is about being prepared for what is to come – and whatever it is that is coming, will be good.
