I am exactly where I need to be, right now.
The older I get, the more I notice how difficult it is to live simply. The world constantly tells us to want. Want a better job, want better looks, want better money. We tend to throw away great things for things that look better. We envy those around us who have better already. Does all of this fill me up at the end of the day? Do the comparisons make me a happier person? There is a deeper meaning to this world.
We can hold on to fear and anxiety for so long. We crave everything that we do not have. Being mindful has been the key to my contentment and happiness. I often have to remind myself that I need to be where I am and I need to be there completely. Absorbing every moment that I am in has often been a challenge. I am in this season for a reason. I do not need to look back and I really do not need to look ahead to the future just yet.
We end up missing the most precious and beautiful moments in our lives because we are more concerned about how others see us and what our lives look like from the outside. We miss the joy because our vision becomes smoggy with negative thoughts. We rush to get from one place to another because where we are right now is never good enough. The comparisons we make on a daily basis break us down and end up hindering our growth.
I want to focus on what is right in front of me. It is the simplicity that brings us back to the moments that we are living in. Be where you are. Enjoy the place that you are in. Stop worrying if it is going to work out or not. We are never going to get today back. Enjoy the process. Be aware of the joy around you.
Our habit is to be off in our heads somewhere, constantly mulling over what happened in the past, or becoming fearful of the future. Seldom are we fully in the now.
It becomes far too easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. We are too focused on wanting to have bigger and better lives, that we end up forgetting that the small things are what we should be focusing on. Being faithful in the small moments bring about change in the big moments.
I do not think having a vision for the future is necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes we yearn to be somewhere else, which makes us miss out on all of the other beautiful opportunities around us.
Surrender to what is right now and wherever you are, be all there. Jesus will take care of the rest.
