The one who skipped meals more than once today.
The one who looks in the mirror and just sees lies.
The one who feels unworthy or unloved.
This one is for you.
People are insecure about something. Big or small, we all have faced worry, self-doubt and loneliness. Insecurity can easily be compared to gossip – it always tends to cover up the truth. Acknowledging that you are insecure creates doubt and makes you overthink about everything else about you. I could be wrong, but in my own experience of insecurity, I used to search for more ‘mistakes’, more things to dislike.
Society tells us that self-love is the greatest remedy when it comes to insecurities. If you pretend to feel confident, eventually your confidence will start to become genuine. This is wrong. Reality proves that you will just end up lying to yourself and this will take you right back to where you started. I see this as a ‘band-aid’ strategy. Love yourself and it will all go away.
So.. what really does fix insecurity? What can one do to heal these doubts and the lies?

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
The moment that we ask Jesus to save us, He begins to cover us with His perfect righteousness. He begins to wipe away every single stain that was left by our sin. Perfectly.
When people around us begin to look at us, or when we end up looking at ourselves, we begin to focus on an outward appearance. We see the pimple on our forehead, the ‘lame’ outfit that we are wearing compared to that of another’s or maybe we see the way our stomach folds a few times.
When God looks at us, He does not see a single blemish, He does not see a single mistake or failure, He does not see someone that is not good looking enough. What He sees is a flawless heart.
That is Grace.
Root your identity in the one who loves you and defines your worth by His flawless sacrifice. Embrace it. That is what makes a big difference.
I have worked through so many of my insecurities these past few years. There were moments where I did not think it was at all possible but I made it through. There have been people along the way who have helped me through it all and it has made the world of difference. I am thankful for the friends who have walked through doubt with me, for my family who have seen the best in me and for my incredible boyfriend, Tevan, who has always taught me how to love myself through the messy days and who has stared directly into my eyes and said “Babe, you are beautiful and you need to believe it.”
Find people like this and embrace Jesus’s love and thoughts about you and I promise, your life will begin to change.
Love Yourself.
