Becoming The Best Me

Sometimes all I need is a dose of inspiration to transform my mindset.  Through the inspiration that has often kept me going, I have learnt how I can try and become my best self.  It has not always been easy, but in most cases it has assisted me in changing my perspective and thoughts on things.  Here goes.

The deeper the no, the deeper the yes:

It is often so easy to self-doubt my decisions in life.  Have I made the right choice?  Am I being silly about this?  Did I make a fool of myself?  I have to remind myself that when I say a deep no to something that may not be good for me, I am actually saying a deep yes to something that is.  When I say yes to something that seems important at the time, I am saying no to something else.  It is important to give a strong no at times, even if that does mean losing opportunities, friendships or anything else that may hold you back.  You will then be able to commit to the people and the opportunities that are right for you.

Start the day with quiet and stillness and decide how you want to feel, not what you have to do:

I want to live my life as though everything is happening for me and not against me.  When things are not necessarily going as planned, I often have a difficult time accepting the lack of control that I have in that situation.  This never used to be a problem for me when I was younger, but as I get older, I tend to worry more about control and focus on where I should be going.  Instead, deciding how I would love to feel today, rather than what I should be doing and where I should be going, helps me grow from every circumstance and allows me to move with grace and peace.

Practice patience:

This means practicing patience with YOURSELF.  Everything takes time.

There is no such thing as failure, only feedback:

Friends, get that word “failure” out of your vocabulary okay?  Setbacks are there for feedback.  Do not take constructive criticism or personal opinions to heart.  You are on this earth to live your best life and if that means working on yourself, your talents and your goals, then big ups to you!

Make decisions that are in alignment with how you want to live your life:

This makes it easier to know which opportunities and requests need a big “YES”, or a big “NO”.  Do not feel bad for saying no.  This is the only way to establish some priorities.

Be the hero of your own life:

This sounds corny but bare with me here.  Reclaim your power and hunt down that inner hero.  Doing something everyday that helps you remember that you are capable of so much more, allows you to see the warrior within you.  Live outside of the comfort zone and be the doer that you are!

Life is a process, not an event:

I sit here giggling as I write this because boy oh boy do I often see life as an event and less of a patient-filled process.  I get so wrapped up in the places and moments in my life.  Embracing each and every moment is important because if you do not, you will completely miss out on it.  Becoming too attached to “events” comes from expectations and fear.  Enjoy the process (Candice, this one is for you too).

From feelings of jealousy to feelings of inspiration:

Unhealthy jealousy stops us from growing.  I am not sure about you but I really do not want to hinder my peace.  When we focus on feeling inspired by those around us, we step into a healthier state of living.  Many people hold up a mirror to each others lives and “perfection” without realising that everyone has their very own battles and life may not seem as glamorous as it may look.  Be happy with who you are and what you have to offer.  Soon, that jealousy will transform into inspiration.

Believe in your identity:

So many of us (myself included) are looking for experiences, places and people to fill us with happiness and joy.  Rather than focusing on who we are and what we offer, we focus on other things to get us by.  Everything begins with you.  If you do not love your identity, how can you love others?  The key to sustainable peace and joy is what you are willing to offer yourself too.

When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.
